Faculty Profile
Indrajit Srivastava is a tenure-track assistant professor at Texas Tech University in the Mechanical Engineering department at Edward E. Whitacre Jr. College of Engineering. Professor Srivastava’s research focuses on leveraging the unique biomimetic characteristics of natural materials and nanoengineering design principles to make nanoparticles for early detection, diagnosis/prognosis, and image-guided therapeutic interventions of diseases like cancer, cardiovascular diseases, kidney diseases, and bacterial and viral pathogenesis. His research works have been published in high-impact scientific journals (ACS Nano, Advanced Functional Materials, Nature Communication, PNAS, etc.) and have been recognized with several academic awards and honors. Professor Srivastava is passionate about mentoring and has shown his strong commitment to enhancing diversity, equity, and inclusion in STEM education through his outreach activities. Before joining Texas Tech, Professor Srivastava was a postdoctoral researcher in the labs of Prof. Shuming Nie and Prof. Viktor Gruev (2020-2023) at the Cancer Center of Illinois, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC). He received his M.S. (2017) and Ph.D. (2020) degrees from UIUC under the mentorship of Prof. Dipanjan Pan and was awarded the Bioengineering Teaching Excellence Award, WYSE Outstanding Mentorship Award, and Carbon Journal Dissertation Prize. He received his B.S. degree in Metallurgical Engineering & Materials Science (2015) from India at the Indian Institute of Engineering Science & Technology (IIEST), Shibpur. In his spare time, he likes watching a wide array of television series ranging from sci-fi (Dark, Stranger Things) to historical romance fiction (Bridgerton). Indrajit loves playing and watching soccer and is a big fan of Arsenal Football Club.
